The George Inn , Brixworth - 19th May 2016
It looks like the 2016 Dancing out season is going to be 'interesting' not knowing how many dancers we will get for sure. On Thursday at The George Inn, Brixworth, numbers were bolstered by the presence of Jim Stuckey , a dancer with Peterborough and Northampton Morris Sides who happens to live in Brixworth. The first Dance called was Lad's a Bunchum' and dancing out of my usual position it went all to pot'. Constant Billy also caused a bit of 'head scratching' when Jim was presented with 2 short sticks - he dances an alternative version with long sticks. Having got through that one the extra dancer made a difference to what could be danced for the rest of the evening, including a Solo spot by Jim to the tune 'The Nutting Girl'
A few locals were enthusiastic 'watchers' and one begged a pair of sticks so he could join in the sticking and compete for 'a beat' with Colin. The funniest part of the proceeding was when no one could remember how the Tune to 'Smash the windows' started. With Darkness falling Squire David and Pauline stood idly by until Melodeon Player Bill (1) consulted his 'Tune Book' . Bonny Green Garters was sung/danced just before 9.00pm - not a bad night at least the rain held off - Thanks again to Jim for turning up his presence was appreciated and hopefully we may see him again during the Summer.
