Brooke House College - Market Harborough - Friday 11th August 2017
It's not often we dance twice in a week let alone on successive days but this week was an exception. Just over a week ago a copy of our website 'Contact Form' landed in our inbox. It was a request from Abby Davies the British Culture co-ordinator at Brooke House College Summer School saying that their students were studying the topic of UK Dance and Music
and would we be able to do some performances, perhaps do a short presentation about Morris dancing (origins) and possible teach students how to do a Morris dance? Well we like a challenge and fortunately managed to get almost a full side. As on numerous previous occasions our friend Gordon from Rutland Morris was also available to help out.
Imagine if you can a room with 40 to 50 students , late teens , mainly female with origins from Eastern Europe to China all shouting at each other. They were quiet for the presentation which we kept short and then the noise level escalated to the two 'joining in dances' Thanks to Gordon for making his instructions for dancing Bonny Green Garters audible over the background noise level. We're not too sure of how much more the students know after our efforts but they certainly enjoyed the dancing as did we.
