The Tollemache Arms - Harrington - Monday 3rd August 2015
The Car Park was getting full when we arrived at the 'Tolly' - on a Monday night !! We weren't sure of what day of the week it was as we had been asked if we could swap it from Thursday back to Monday. It was the August Beer Festival come a little early and a walking party made up the numbers nicely. Getting into the Pub was a hazardous undertaking as there was a game of skittles going on just inside the door.It was a good evening with plenty of dancing and a lot of interest particularly when it was discovered we had a 'Guest Dancer' in our midst in the form of Helen from the Westmorland Step and Garland Dancers (WSG Dancers). After a short debate with Bill (with the Melodeon) about a suitable 'Tune' Helen was off to her car to get her dancing shoes and give us an all too short demonstration of stepping.
Based in and around Kendal they dance mostly Westmorland step dances and Morris style Garland dances. Their website is worth a look (www.wsgdancers.org) particularly if you are heading for the southern end of the Lake District and would like to see some dancing which is different from Cotswold.
With the light decreasing and the car park even fuller due to returning walkers we headed off to home. Only 3 more sessions and the 2015 Dancing out season will be finished - "Who knows where the time goes"
