Interview with Connect FM Wednesday 14th October 2015
I was given the details of Connect FM by one of the organisers of the Desborough 40's day in a chance conversation outside the Opticians while waiting for a drive past of wartime vehicles.
When I contacted Connect FM to see if they could/would publicise our plight reference recruiting dancers the replied was quick to come back with an invitation to the studio in Kettering.. Which is how Squire Dave and Bill Hewitt found themselves at 7.30am on a Wednesday morning embarrassing or amusing passers by on their way to work as they 'skulked about outside the studio in full Morris Kit , Bells, Baldricks and the lot.
The task was not only to provide some background fill in on Braybrooke' problems with recruitment but also to teach Mark Jeeves, one of the presenters of the Breakfast show, a 'bit of Morris' which would go down well on Radio. The stick hitting sequence from'Constant Billy' was used and a background music track had been put together by my wife Rowena playing fiddle while I filled in with an Octave Mandolin. The clashes of sticks went out on air much to the amusement of those in the studio. As Mark is a drummer he was 'on the beat' straight away and the task accomplished without damage to anyone's fingers. It was great fun.
Mark and co-presenter Liz put together a Video and a sound bite of the broadcast interview - for use on our and any other available website.
I have attached a couple of pictures and an audio file of the interview in case you might be able to use them.(Links on News page)
Hopefully all our efforts are repaid at Thursday 15ths 'Free Taster Night' at Braybrooke Village Hall start 7,45pm time will tell
