Macmillan Cancer Support Collection Day
Saturday 22nd was a busy day for Harborough. A fine and sunny autumn morning found a French Market in the Square and 3 local Morris Dance sides in Saint Mary's Place supporting Macmillan Cancer Support's collection day.Volunteers from the Market Harborough Group were collecting around the Town all day and thanks to such generosity raised £1251!!
For several years Braybooke Morris Dancers have supported Macmillan in June and October with a little help from their friends. This October was no different with support coming from Bakanalia Border Morris from Glenfield Leicester and 'Cobbled together' a Clog dance side from Little Harrowden, near Wellingborough. Thanks also to Jonathan Unna and Gorden Blunt both from Rutland Morris for bolstering the Braybrooke side
Taking it in turns to entertain a large audience the dancing went on for about an hour and a half - a nice way to spend a Saturday morning. One 92 year old lady provided an example of enthusiastic audience participation beating time on a borrowed tambourine and powered by Peter Hanby of Braybrooke took part in the final dance ' Bonny Green Garters'
Comment from Eunice - A big thank you to all those involved who helped to make the day a great success.
