Elephant up a Pole Wassail - Brandon Marshes Nature Reserve
Sunday 16th January 2020
As we have for the last 4 years January saw us receive an invitation from the Elephant up a Pole organisers to dance and wassail the orchard at the Brandon Marshes Nature reserve , just South East of Coventry. So a few of us (at least enough to make a side plus musicians) set off on an unusually bright and blustery January Morning to join up with, EUP Black Anis , Black Adder, Step on Board, Coventry Morrismen and Silhill Border for a couple of hours on a continuous rotation until at 13.30 the majority sploshed their way to the Apple Trees and noisily , as is the want, Wassailed them - a point which appeared to perplex and annoy several Ornithologists trying t find birds to watch. Then it was back to a bit of lunch and off home to sit in front of the fire until Spring arrived. A comment on photography I am trying this year to get some 'different' images for a change. It's not easy but I started here looking more for interesting faces rather than flashing hankies and waved sticks - we'll see how we get on through the year
