The White Horse - Stoke Albany - Thursday 6th June 2019
The golden light of a perfect summers evening as we returned to Stoke Albany after a good many years absence. This visit was arranged at short notice following on from the discovery that the organised venue , The Sun Inn at Great Easton was undergoing refurbishment and was therefore closed - and a lucky re-arrangement it turned out to be.
The dancing area was in the car park and is second only to Shearsby for it's vertiginous characteristics which was soon testing the legs of all concerned. There is a nice little patio facing the car park which we had soon commandeered and filled with assorted Morris clutter. Of to a good start we were soon in full swing when just after 8.00pm we were unexpectedly treated to a nice surprise when out of the kitchen came 6 bowls of chips. Not any old chips these were chips to die for ready salted and peppered , crispy on the outside and soft in the middle and almost too hot to handle - and they were courtesy of the pub - which was very generous of them. Needless to say proceedings were temporarily halted.
Once restarted we danced through until just gone 9.00pm heading home tired but repleat.
If you haven't tried the White Horse they serve excellent bar meals and also have an 'A la carte' restaurant .
I suspect that we will be back next year
