The Chequers - Swinford - Thursday 5th July 2018
Now this is a pub which knows how to keep Morris Dancers well . First there's a board outside the pub door , Second there are the posters I send out about a month before , on the wall. Third when we've finished our sint and Bonny Green Garters has been danced there is sausage and chips waiting for us in the pub. The nest result is we have a great night with our friends from Coventry Morris and we keep coming back. Only disappointment last night was the audience was reduced down to a family who have turned up for the last few years they have a boy and a girl who love to come and join in - this year they danced 'The Rose Tree. It was a fun evening with Coventry's 'Fool' giving Margaret a hand and who set up a relay stick dance with Peter and Liz got her first experience of the 'Ampleforth Sword Dance' or at least part of it . It was hot and by the time we got to Bonny Green we were all a little damp , and ready for ome chips - aren't we always.
