Everyone thought it would not take long to get back to normal what ever that may be. It didn't take long ,how ever, to work out that as time passed our chances of Dancing out during 2020 were slipping away with the passing of the summer months. When the calendar reached 31st August we had arrived at our seasons end having danced not one step in public. That's not to say we hadn't danced at all as we needed to keep fit and familiar with the dances we do.
Fortunately one of the side has a Farm which has a large open yard, a large Dutch barn and an assortment of other outbuildings. and plenty of space. So through out late spring until into September musicians and dancers
Applying the rules for Safe distancing at 2m in all directions and the rule of 6 cut away about half the repertoire as you can't dance a stick dance with a 3m pole. Hankie dances were less difficult provided every one kept 2m away from everyone else . Solo jigs became popular but more than anything else we kept in touch with other humans - something we all need , while doing our best to comply with what was demanded by HM- Gov - what ever they were at the time
It's now the end of November and confidence is rising that by New Year we will all be being offered a couple of doses of vaccine and by Easter
the situation will be in control and restrictions will be being reduced.
I'm not suggesting we should hold our breath but maybe 2021 will see us back on the Thursday evening outside a pub .....
LIKE A GOOD MANY OTHERS WE CAN ONLY APOLOGISE TO ALL OUR FRIENDS AND SUPPORTERS FOR THE EFFECTS THE CORBID-19 VIRUS IS HAVING LOCALLY AND AROUND THE GLOBE
WE HAD AN INTERESTING PROGRAMME FOR 2020 BUT WE ILL BE LUCKY TO DANCE THE SEASON OUT. SEVERAL OF THE SIDE FIT INTO THE HIGH RISK CATEGORY
