The Nevill Arms - Medbourne, Thursday 2nd July 2015
After threats of downpours and a non to pleasant looking sky, it looked like we were in for another 'wet night'. Fortunately by the time we reached The Nevill Arms there was a cloudless blue sky and warm evening sunshine.
Much time was spent watching and encouraging a family of assorted, non specific variety ducks,(suspect Mallard cross Muskovie) trying to get up and over one of the barriers on the brook which runs along the bottom of the car park and through the village. It started with parents showing how to do it and 8 or 9 siblings failing. One by one they mastered the technique except for one who looked like being left on its own.
The dancing was good and although there was little or no audience . We enjoyed the warm evening. A couple of families who were heading for the pub stopped to ask the usual Question - "why Morris dancing" which presented an opportunity to explain the history and that we need more dancers.
Green Garters was danced about 09.20pm and as we headed for our cars the thought was - "Did the last duckling make it ????"
